  • Verde Canyon Rail Road -The Verde Canyon is acclaimed as Arizona’s longest-running nature show. The remote wilderness of the Verde Canyon, located west of Sedona and below Jerome, is renowned for its towering red rock pinnacles; clean, green waters; Indian ruins, tunnels, trestles and clear azure skies.
  • Hiking and Mountain Biking — Sedona has miles and miles of absolutely stunning hiking and biking trails. We and our staff have logged many a mile around here. We have our favorites and are happy to share them with you. One of our favorite equipment resources isThe Hike House– right across the street from the Inn Above Oak Creek.
  • Birding — According to the Northern Arizona Audubon Society, our elevation and riparian habitats attract a spectacular variety of birds and thus, good birding any time of the year.
  • Golf — Ask anybody who knows Arizona golf including the two 18 hole courses in Sedona and they’ll tell you two things: Sedona golf is an excellent value and it’s played on three beautiful courses:
  • The Oak Creek Country Club
  • The Sedona Golf Resort
  • Seven Canyons Sedona
  • The Museum of Northern Arizona— People of all ages and interests celebrate art and the cultures of Hopi, Navajo, Pai, Zuni, Hispanic, and prehistoric peoples. Discover the secrets of dinosaurs, geology, fossils, and native plants and animals.
  • Gettin' Out There — Several jeep companies and horse stables take our guests into the back country. Other guests like hot air balloons, helicopters, or bi-planes. Basically, if it moves they have it in Sedona. For more information on Sedona and all it has to offer, visitGateway to Sedona.

From Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport
Proceed WEST on Sky Harbor Blvd. to the Papago Fwy (I-10 West).

The Papago Freeway will go north for approximately two miles then turn towards the west. After approximately four miles take the I-17 NORTH ramp (towards Flagstaff). Take I-17 NORTH to exit 298, Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon, Hwy 179, a trip of about two hours (depending upon traffic).

Stop at the stop sign and turn LEFT onto Hwy 179. The Inn is approximately 14 miles from here.

You will go through the Village of Oak Creek after 6 miles, then pass through an area of open forest land.

After a total of 14 miles, look for the Quality/Comfort Inn, the second Circle K convenience store, and the Hillside shops on the right. The Inn On Oak Creek is a short distance on your left, across from the Exposures Gallery.

Drive to the next roundabout and circle back around, heading south on Highway 179. The Inn will be the first building you come to on the right. Pull in to the Inn’s front driveway to register and drop off your luggage.

From Flagstaff
Take I-17 SOUTH to exit 337 Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon, Hwy 89A. Stop at the ramp stop sign and turn RIGHT. At the next immediate stop sign, turn LEFT onto Hwy 89A, southbound. From this point the time of travel is approximately 40 minutes

Scenic alert!
You may want to make a few stops along the way to take in the beauty of Oak Creek Canyon. We suggest the Scenic Overlook before you start the descent into the canyon (shortly after the point where the speed limit drops to 35 mph.) Junipine Resort Cafe is the only place to dine in the canyon (other than Dairy Queen). The fare is simple, but good, and the have a lovely outdoor porch. Slide Rock State Park is a great stop if you have time to stay a while – get in the icy cold natural waterslide! Garlands Native American store is a worthwhile stop for superlative Indian jewelry, but you can stop at the Dairy Queen, also, where Native Americans have booths set up to sell their wares. Midgley Bridge is a nice overlook – later you may want to return here to start a hike into Wilson Mountain Wilderness.
