A seven foot wide staircase to the second floor was rebuilt, having been cut in two and partially destroyed in the 1880s. Fortunately, the staircase bannisters and spindles, which were stored in the attic for over a hundred years were recoverable, and were refinishable.
Access to four of the bedrooms is via a seven foot wide staircase adorned with a mural depicting Poquetanuck Cove (c. 1825).
As part of the renovation, a modern bathroom was added to each bedroom with no detraction from the colonial flavor of the home.
