Aptly named for the beautiful bay which commands the view from this room. French glass doors open onto the first floor deck where you have your own chairs and easy access to the hammock as well as the path down the hill to the ocean. Stand and watch for The Cat across the bay as it departs for Nova Scotia, sit at your writing table to compose a note to a friend or soak in a private bath. Your stay here can be addictive.

Our goal is to offer “casual elegance ” in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We have ample common areas for our guests including a library loft and comfortable sitting areas. Also, each guest room has its own private deck with wonderful ocean views. You will enjoy a full hot breakfast, after which we are always available to go over maps and/or offer suggestions on things to see and do. We know the area well and can help you find the perfect hike or a hidden sea cave. Here at the B&B you can take the path down to the ocean, lounge in a hammock or just sit and take in the views.
We are located on a high ocean front bluff with
breathtaking views of Frenchmans Bay, the mountains of Acadia
National Park and the lights of Bar Harbor. We are on
the quiet side of the bay yet surrounded with all kinds of interesting sites
and activities. Nearby you will find the Schoodic Peninsula branch of Acadia
National Park with the stunning views along Park Loop Road and
the crashing surf at Schoodic Point. You can take a vigorous hike up Schoodic
Mountain or Black Mountain or a more sedate walk along the shore
at Petit Manan wildlife refuge.
There are nearby bike and kayak rentals and a variety of unique studios and galleries. You can visit the U.S. Bells foundry and gift shop, Lee Art Glass, the glassblowers at Gypsy Moose Glass Studio or the old fashioned Winter Harbor 5 & 10. There are several golf courses in the area and half a dozen great places to eat within 15 minutes. And then, when you want to take in the sites of Bar Harbor or go whale watching, it is a scenic 30 mile drive away. Campobello Island, Roosevelts summer home is an easy daytrip as is all of Downeast Maine and parts of coastal New Brunswick and the Bay of Fundy.
If you are making your first visit to the area or your five-hundredth, you will find Acadia View to be a great place to call home. We are located on Coastal Rt. 1, one of the most scenic roads in America (formally designated a National Scenic Byway along Frenchmans Bay), and we are right in the heart of Downeast Maine.
