Golden Lantern Inn
Bed and Breakfast
Red Wing, Minnesota
This is the Golden Lantern Inn bed and breakfast in Red Wing, Minnesota. Built in 1932 by J.R. Sweasy, president of Red Wing Shoe Company, this Tudor revival home is nearly 7,000 square feet of master craftsmanship.
Walnut, birch, oak and maple are used throughout the home. The front entry features a walnut staircase. The dining room and library are entirely oak. Marble encases the living room fireplace and takes the place of wood on the bathroom window sills. An abundance of common areas is perhaps the biggest difference between the Golden Lantern and other bed and breakfasts.
When youre not in your room, check out the library and its beautiful
Mission-style furniture; lounge in the living room in front of the marble fireplace; relax
on the beautiful stone porch; or step out back and enjoy three very secluded patios, one
with stone fireplace and six-person hot tub.
Located just 3.5 blocks from downtown Red Wing, the Golden
Lantern is in the heart of Red Wings historic
district, and an easy walk to shops and dining.
of our five rooms offers a fireplace, whirlpool, balcony or combination of amenities.
Your full breakfast can be enjoyed in the privacy of your room,
downstairs in the dining room or, weather permitting, on the stone porch. We provide
luxurious robes for lounging in your room or outside at the hot tub.
Rates: $139 to $169
We use only the freshest seasonal produce, organic eggs from local farmers and from scratch recipes. In the summer, our gardens brim with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, rhubarb, raspberries, peaches, plums, tomatoes, asparagus, peppers and watermelon. So don’t be surprised to learn that what you find on your plate may have been picked fresh that very morning!
The next time you seek a fun get-away for a larger group of family or
friends, look no further than the Golden Lantern Inn.
The entire first floor of the Golden Lantern Inn
is available as gathering space. When the weather allows, the stone porch and backyard
offer additional gathering areas.
We can provide refreshments for your gathering. We also will arrange for
catered lunches or dinners so you can stay at the Inn rather than attempting to secure
reservations for a large group at a restaurant.
If you have a need for larger facilities, we work closely with other Red Wing,
Minnesota, bed and breakfasts and can arrange a memorable outing for your entire
group. Please call to inquire about a group, meeting, elopement or wedding stay at the inn.
Things to do in Red Wing
Red Wing is known for what it offers. 72 holes of championship
golf; hiking, biking and cross country ski trails; two downhill
ski resorts; many parks located along the sharpest turn on the Mississippi
River; a wonderful 1800s era downtown in pristine condition; shopping; nightlife,

Pepin; and much more.
