Ten and one half acres of woods, ponds, and beautiful grounds beckon you to experience nature in New Hampshire.  Take in the hundreds of flowers or perhaps spot one of the many migratory birds that frequent the property.

The inn, circa 1832, retains the ambiance held by the Safford family for more than 150 years prior to its purchase by the current hosts Meg Kupiec and Wayne Miller. Both veterans of the hotel industry, to them a friendly greeting and genuine hospitality are second nature.

The homestead carries the legacy of local history. The Meades' daughter, Annie, married Perley Safford on Christmas in 1905. Perley Safford was well-known as a horse trainer and the inventor of the Safford Colic Cure. Their son, Franklin, became a Hall-of-Fame sulky race driver, while their daughter, Norma, became a prolific nature painter whose florals are now considered a valuable part of the history of Cheshire County and hold a distinguished place in many area collections.

At the Tartan Fox our four beautiful rooms have been tastefully decorated and furnished. Each room has a private bathroom with bath/shower or shower.  Each private bathroom has marble floors which can be heated in the Winter.

Three of our four rooms have Queen beds, the fourth a double. You will find books in the rooms and the common rooms to peruse or read, and games in the common rooms to play.

The Inn of the Tartan Fox houses four distinctively decorated guest rooms, each with private bath and heated marble floors.

A Scotch plaid and period antiques afford all four rooms their sense of history.

One of the guest rooms stokes the flames of romance with a romantic fireplace, and another has been renovated to accommodate those in wheelchairs.

Tartan Fox's "slightly sinful" breakfast is served daily in a wood-paneled dining room or on the sunporch.

Start your day with a slightly sinful breakfast served in our wood paneled dining room or on the sun porch.

Breakfast at the Tartan Fox is a Gourmet Affair with your tastebuds.  Upon arriving at the Inn, we love to greet our guests with a treat of home baked cookies, along with liquid refreshments after a long drive.

In the morning breakfast is at a time of your choosing, between 830 and 1000.  None of that "breakfast at 7am" routine!  You will start the day with our home baked goods such as muffins and our famous scones.  We follow this with some fruit, fresh in the warmer months and baked in the cooler months.

Then the Main breakfast!  Perhaps it will be "Alex's Eggs Benedict" or "Grammie's Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes". We promise to fill you up for the day ahead.  We can accommodate Gluten and / or Dairy free diets as well as vegan if notified ahead of time.

Once you have finished breakfast you will be ready to experience the rest of the flavors of New England...
