"Rancho Manzana...is imbued with a very peaceful, relaxing quality...the house
is genuine, not a "made up" style, and so has great character and integrity."

Santa Fean, October 1996

Rancho Manzana, located on the historic Plaza del Cerro in Chimayo, New Mexico, was the family residence and mercantile store of the Ortega family. The building dates from the mid-1700's, a time when Northern New Mexico was still largely unsettled. Since 1992 we have operated Rancho Manzana as a private business, taking great care in an on-going restoration process to provide a relaxing, hospitable retreat within this wonderful adobe structure

A 30 minute drive from Santa Fe takes you to a tranquil, timeless rural paradise. Leaving the highway, you'll pass through the Nambe pueblo and the red sandstone "badlands." The light is magical, and the setting is in many ways unchanged from centuries past, as you head toward the cluster of trees and adobe houses that is Chimayo.

Each room at Rancho Manzana has been carefully appointed.

Fluffy oversize towels, 100% cotton linens and down comforters are standard. Each light and airy room has a queen size bed (one with a twin sofa sleeper), private bath with a shower and your personal deck overlooking the lavender fields.

Enjoy a relaxing soak in our hot tub or sit around the outdoor fire on a chilly night. But please, leave your pets at home, we have plenty here for you to enjoy!

A full breakfast is served every morning, with piping hot coffee or tea, orange juice, farm-raised eggs, heavenly oven pancakes, salsas, thick-sliced toast.......Enjoy a hearty morning meal in our spacious country kitchen, outdoors on the deck, or under the ramada, overlooking the flowers, vegetable gardens, apple orchard and chile farm.

Rancho Manzana also functions as a full-service special occasion reception facility. Numerous private parties, dinners and weddings, have been hosted here as well as corporate events. Guests are always enchanted by the surroundings, and we have access to a number of area chefs and caterers.

The facilities At Rancho Manzana
are available for nearly any type of special occasion--private dinners, weddings, receptions, birthdays, cocktail parties, baby showers

The outdoor setting is magnificent, especially during the summer and fall. We can accommodate groups as large as 125 people for a large party or we can design an intimate dinner for a small group of friends. A summer meal served outdoors under the ramada is a truly magical experience. We have access to a number of professional caterers and can assist you in planning all sorts of special occasions, large or small. We can also coordinate floral arrangements, babysitting and transportation services.

Cooking classes are taught by a variety of local and nationally known chefs. Classes feature our own Rancho Manzana produce and range from traditional Southwestern fare to modern spins on old classics.

Rancho Manzana is within easy driving distance of a

"Centuries old, Rancho Manzana has been lovingly restored into an exquisite example of the finest in Northern New Mexico architecture and ambience, as well as transformed from scrub and bare dirt into one of the most productive and beautiful small farms anywhere. And, this little Eden is all the genius and elbow grease of one remarkable woman...
