Situated on the banks of the picturesque Connecticut River in the heart of The Cornish Colony, with spectacular views of Vermont's Mount Ascutney we are an ideal location for a romantic getaway, family reunion, weekend wedding, alopement or civil union. The Chase House Inn a Circa 1766 Settlement Colonial-style house offers 9 charming guest rooms with period furnishing, an 1810 post and beam reception room and services the Upper Valley, Dartmouth Sunapee Region as well as Woodstock and Queechee Vermont.
The 160 acre estate is situated on a peaceful country road surrounded by corn and hay fields, horses and cows, yet only minutes away from the cultural centers of The Dartmouth Hanover region, Lake Sunapee region, as well as Woodstock and Quechee Vermont.

Maintaining the style and elegance of its past, established in the 1985 restoration, the 1992 construction added our 1,200sq ft. gathering room and our three suites, offering a total of ten beautifully appointed guest rooms. The three suites are ideal for families or bridal parties, and all bedrooms have their own private bathrooms, thermostats, and air conditioners. The carefully chosen furnishings including the canopied and four-poster beds, the hardwood bureaus, and delicate trim, combine to offer comfortable accommodations to satisfy those with selective tastes. |

Every morning upon waking, guests are greeted with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee or tea. A hearty country breakfast follows featuring seasonal fruits and homemade specialties. This bountiful spread is either served in the Chase House dining room, on the terrace, weather permitting, or in our 1810 post and beam gathering room.
After Breakfast, relax on the front porch or in the gazebo by the pond. If you would rather start your day with a little exercise enjoy a casual walk to the rivers edge, maybe even go for a swim, or a 40-minute hike to the top of our property and enjoy a special lookout of Mount Ascutney. For those with further recreation on their minds the area offers horseback riding, Canoeing and Kayaking, Hiking, Biking, golf and much more.
Enjoy your first day touring the Cornish Colony, within a short distance of the Inn, guests can find the Cornish-Windsor Bridge, the longest two span wooden covered bridge in the world and Saint Gaudens National Historic site. The Historic town of Windsor is the birthplace of Vermont and features Vermont Heritage Days and is home to The American Precision Museum, and The Cornish Colony Museum featuring Maxfield Parish.
For antique lovers, Plainfield Antique and Artisan Market offers high quality Antiques, local artisans, New England made products and a wonderful gift and Christmas shop. Chrismas Past and Present offers over twenty five different theme trees Steinbach Nutcrackers and one of the largest displays of Christopher Radko old world glass ornaments.
Fall foliage
As our Fall foliage season begins in early October, plan on staying 3 to 5 days. At Breakfast each morning we map out your days scenic foliage routes. Your first day should be spent relaxing on The Chase House grounds or hiking on our 160 acres of Maples, Oaks, Beeches and Birch trees. We are convenient to all parts of NH including a half day trip to the Lakes Region or a full day to The White Mountains including Mt. Washington, North Conway, Pinkham, and Franconia notches.
Scenic Gondola ride at Loon Mountain on the Kancamangus Highway offers views of the nine surrounding peaks and is one of the 10 most scenic highways in the country. Short trips in our upper valley area include; The Woodstock area, The Killington Valley, and Okemo Valley VT and The Lake Sunapee area in New Hamshire.
End your day in front of our eight foot stone fireplace in our post and beam gathering room, ideal for family gatherings, couples weekend, ski weekends, romantic getaways and what a spectacular room for your country wedding, any season of the year.
Weddings at The Chase House Bed and Breakfast Inn
Thank you for considering the Chase House for your New Hampshire wedding celebration. A country wedding should be a joyous and memorable event for your family and friends. The Chase House is one of New Hampshire's National Historic Landmarks. Our grounds can host your wedding ceremony, wedding reception, or rehearsal dinner. It is our intent to eliminate much of the stress and tension often associated with planning a wedding. Planning and coordination are key ingredients to create that special wedding day. |
We will assist you with both the planning and coordination of your wedding. We offer a very broad selection of hors d'oeuvers and 12 different entrees to choose from. Our Caterer can prepare a fabulous elopement dinner for two, a buffet, or served menu for up to 125 guests. We work with a select group of other service providers which include a florist, photographers and musicians. We also can help with your wedding favors and gifts. Our facility provides both guest lodging and reception areas. |
We offer our grounds Spring, Summer or Fall for your wedding ceremony. Weddings can be held by our perennial borders, or near the pond with scenic views of Mount Ascutney. There is also nondenominational church 3/4 of a mile north of us on Route 12A, if you prefer a church wedding. A horse-drawn carriage is available if desired. We recommend a mid-afternoon ceremony, so the cocktail hour may be held on our weathered stone patio. |
