Whispering Pines is a contemporary, cozy chalet surrounded by 50 acres of private woods on all sides. Cathedral ceiling, skylights, finished wood floors, an interior balcony between our two upstairs bedrooms and lots of windows everywhere create a spacious, light-filled atmosphere. The fireplace is kept ablaze in spring and fall; all summer, the woodland breezes wander the house through open windows and doors. All bedrooms are air conditioned mid-May through mid-September.
Your room is your private domain, and we do not intrude upon it. When you check in, you will find your room and bathroom freshly cleaned, the bed made with fresh linens, and a set of fresh towels in your room. Should you stay with us for a while, fresh towels will be left outside
your door every other day. |

Your bathroom will be supplied with toilet tissue, soap and shampoo, but not with a hairdryer or other bathroom supplies. Our housekeeper tidies the rooms and checks the supplies every Saturday. And of course, if you need anything, all you have to do is ask.
We think "getaway" means not having to get up in the morning!
That's why we leave our self-serve breakfast out from 8:30 until 11:00 a.m., so you can sleep late if you want to. Our cornucopia buffet gives you a lot to choose from: freshly made bagels, 3 kinds of cream cheese, five or six kinds of cereals, local fresh fruit, berries, melons, hard boiled eggs, English muffins, bagel chips, specialty hard cheeses, gourmet jams, coffee cake, sweet muffins, coffee, tea, milk, and orange juice.
We are just minutes from Mohonk Mountain House, Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park, fine restaurants, antique shops, The Pottery Trail, the Wine Trail, golf course, horseback riding, fishing, golfing, and woodland hiking. Twenty minutes from Woodstock.
Dining: Elegant or casual fine dining, including High Falls' four star DePuy Canal House Restaurant.
Shopping: Antiques, art, and crafts center of the Catskills. Woodstock nearby. Woodbury Commons Factory Outlets en route from NYC.
Summer: Swim at local rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Fish, hike, golf, bike, rock climb, or just bask in the sun.
Winter: Ski downhill one hour away or cross-country ski nearby. Take winter hikes in the woods, see the frozen waterfall at Minnewaska, laze in a hot Jacuzzi in your room, and enjoy the living room fireplace.
