|Our Bed & Breakfast is a farm home, which means we have an old farmhouse (circa 1863), barn and other out buildings. But we have no animals (other than Mutley, our barn dog), and we do not farm. However, we are surrounded by one of the largest areas of farmland left in Lancaster County - which is why it is so peaceful here.|
Just across the creek is one of the many Amish farms that dot the area and a one-room schoolhouse. We can also help you plan your itinerary while you are here with maps, guides, tours, suggestions and recommendations to get you out in the countryside where you can get a real flavor of the area. At Hillside Farm Bed & Breakfast we have three guest rooms, one suite, and two private Country Cottages for couples only.
Dining Room at Hillside Farm
|We would also be happy to arrange for you to have dinner
with an Amish family if you wish. Advance notice for reservations is required.
Lancaster County holds a Quilter's Heritage Festival in the month of April, if your visit has you here at that time of the year, you wouldn't want to miss all the hand made Amish quilts on display.
There are three guest rooms with private bath, and one suite in the main house.
DAILY RATES: The Loft - $125-$145/night, The Davis Room - $110/night. Additional Persons are $20/night.
Country Cottages at Hillside Farm
The Chicken Coop
Nestled in the middle of beautiful Lancaster County farmland are Hillside's Cottages, the first being the Chicken Coop. You are invited to relax in the three-cornered whirlpool tub for two with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lush green meadows and watch the moon come up over the horse barn. Next to the tub is the gas log fireplace which provides a thoroughly romantic setting, while the plush king bed with hand-made quilt and picket fence headboard beckons you to sink down and ease your stress away. Come celebrate your wedding, anniversary, birthday, or simply get away to this peaceful country hideaway for two.
With a country barn theme, the room has a raised ceiling with exposed original barn beams, two ceiling fans, baseboard hot water heat and is fully air conditioned. A "Country Love" Amish quilt hangs on the main wall of knotty pine barn siding. Rest awhile on the cranberry gingham loveseat while you watch your favorite program or movie on the TV,VCR, or DVD player, or listen to romantic music on the CD player which you will find in the hand painted entertainment center. You are welcome to bring your own movies and CD's, or borrow some from the Main Inn.
A piping hot country breakfast may be delivered to you each morning in our picnic basket which you can enjoy at the antique kitchen table while you watch the horses frolic in the meadow...or perhaps you would rather sleep in because there will be nothing to wake you except the songs of the mockingbirds and barn swallows.
A two-night minimum stay is required on holidays.
- 2014 DAILY RATES: The Loft - $125-$145/night, The Davis Room - $125/night. Additional Persons are $20/night.
- Cottages - $225/night. Rates include breakfast. 7.1% sales tax added to cost.
The popularity of our first Cottage at Hillside prompted us to begin the process all over again with our new cottage - the Stable. Over the past, this cottage has proved to be as popular as the Chicken Coop and we've now had two weddings and a marriage renewal here. Guests' comments range from "WOW" to "AWESOME!!!"
The Stable has the same amenities as the Chicken Coop, although a different configuration and of course, as the name suggests, has an equestrian decorating theme. The shape is a miniature version of the old barn with the Dutch gambrel roof. The walls inside are yellow pine barn siding with exposed old barn beams. The floor has hunter green carpeting and the vinyl is a random stone block pattern. The far end of the room is all windows overlooking the horse meadow where the mares and their foals are out in the spring.
There is a stone fireplace on the opposite wall from the king bed and the hot tub for two is in the corner beside the bed with a mirror on one wall. The wet bar is just a bit bigger than the one in the Chicken Coop and there is an antique oak table and chairs in the dining area.
If you are interested in booking one of the cottages, please click on the "Availability" button and send an e-mail. If you wish to be put on a "Wait" list for the cottages for a weekend we are already full, let us know. You will be contacted should a cancellation occur. All rates and packages are the same as the Chicken Coop.
All rooms at Hillside Farm have air conditioning, paddle fans, separate heat thermostats, night stands, stacks of magazines, alarm clock radios, dressers, upholstered chairs, bathrobes, and a pitcher of refreshing spring water.
A full country all-you-can-eat family-style breakfast is served every morning. Cottage: breakfast may be brought to you in the Cottage or you may eat with otherguests in the dining room.
