- The Green Room
- A bright and comfortable corner room, The Green Room, has windows facing north and east
for sunrise views above the Blue Ridge Mountains. Below this second story room is the
ornamental fish pool and soothing sounds of the waterfall. The soft Irish green ribbon
wallpaper and the bathroom's sea-foam green whirlpool tub inspired the room's name. Other
delightful features include the handpainted headboard and fireplace mantel, the bathroom's
unique window and ceramic tile treatment, and an antique oval pedestal sink - original to
the house.
- The White Room
- This room is named for the Victorian bathroom's antique claw-footed tub and sink,
enhanced by pristine white and gold fixtures and tile treatments. The antique 4-poster
white cast iron and brass bed faces the fireplace. Victorian furniture sets off this
elegant and spacious room which faces west onto the second floor's fully restored enclosed
private sun porch, providing views of Massanutten Mountain and spectacular sunsets.
- The Blue Room
- The Blue Room, with its tranquil cream and blue wallpaper and antique wardrobe, faces
west. French doors provide access to the enclosed private sun porch which offers mountain
views and breathtaking sunsets that highlight the property's tree line. The elegant
4-poster bed faces the fireplace. An original fused glass window overlooks the
exceptionally large midnight blue double whirlpool tub. The tile and wallpaper treatments
compliment the antique marble-topped dressing table.
- The Raspberry Room (pictured above)
- This room was known to the original owners as "the coffee room". Now a
favorite with honeymooners, it is adorned with a stunning flower and lovebird motif
wallpaper and has an imposing antique high 4-poster bed and an elegant antique French
armoir. The fireplace is framed by a hearth of antique tile and an impressive antique
columned and mirrored mantel. The separate seating area around the fireplace gives added
comfort and dimension to this exceptionally large corner room which faces south and east,
offering sunrise vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains and, on winter evenings, the twinkling
lights of the town below. The bathroom's unique tri-cornered raspberry colored double
whirlpool tub and the restored antique pedestal sink have European handpainted porcelain
fixtures.
The Tower House
| The Tower House, circa 1905, is situated 50 feet from the
main house and was originally a family guest house and water tower that collected water to
supply the property's extensive grounds. Inside the main entrance, a winding staircase
backed by a hand-painted mural beckons you to climb to the top where you can escape with a
good book or daydream over the vistas below. |
- The Plum Cottage Suite
- This suite occupies the ground floor of the Tower House. Like an Irish cottage in a
flowering meadow, it abounds with color and floral arrangements on walls, windows and bed.
Handpainted Victorian "cottage" period furniture and the many shades of plum in
this charming three-room suite inspired its unusual name. Authentic English Arts and
Crafts styling adds a special touch. The sunny living room, complete with television and
gas fireplace with its antique mantel and unique tile work, provides access to the south
balcony with views of the ornamental fish pool, waterfall and the mountains beyond. The
spacious bathroom (pictured below) with its large double whirlpool tub provides a walk-out
to the suite's north balcony and quiet garden views.
- The Jade Tree Suite
- This suite, a favorite with honeymooners, is on the second floor of the Tower House and
offers two balconies with exceptional views of Killahevlin's property and the Blue Ridge
Mountains beyond. The south balcony overlooks the picturesque waterfall and the pool which
is home to a variety of colorful koi and goldfish. The comfortable living room offers a
gas fireplace and television for relaxing evenings. The rooms are warm and inviting and
feature Oriental art objects typical of the Victorian era. The exceptionally large
bathroom with its sumptuously deep, jade colored double whirlpool tub and the living
room's whimsical wall covering suggested the suite's name.
