Miss Molly’s Inn is a sweet and charming seven bedroom Victorian Bed and Breakfast
on Virginia’s Chincoteague Island.

We are located on historic Main Street, minutes from shops, restaurants, and many other local attractions. Chincoteague (pronounced Shink-o-teeg) is the gateway to Assateague Island, a 37 mile uninhabited National Seashore and Wildlife Refuge and home to the famous wild ponies. Our Chincoteague Bed and Breakfast has five wonderful porches to savor the sea breezes. We have rocking chairs, loungers and even a hammock on our large second floor deck that overlooks the working bay. Indulge in tea, coffee, cookies and home-baked goodies, available 24 hours a day in our lovely screened in porch. Enjoy the hollyhocks and roses in our beautiful English garden, watch the mother ducks with their ducklings as seagulls soar above.

Here at Miss Molly’s you will appreciate the genuine charm of an old fashioned inn, as did Marguerite Henry, whilst she wrote her famous book Misty of Chincoteague. Whether you choose to venture out and enjoy the many activities that the island has to offer or to just relax and rejuvenate, you will be pleased you chose Miss Molly’s.

Misty of Chincoteague
The Horse that Started It All!

2011-misty.jpg (62925 bytes)Chincoteague Island is famous for many reasons, but the most famous of all is the book Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry. This book is the touching story about a wild pony and two children who want to purchase this pony at the yearly wild pony auction. On the last week of July each year, since 1927, the Chincoteague Volunteer Firemen (known as the Saltwater Cowboys) herd and swim the ponies across the Assateague Channel to Chincoteague. The “Cowboys” then parade the ponies through the streets of Chincoteague and down to the auction grounds on Main Street. Beautifully written and enjoyed by all age groups, Misty of Chincoteague is the best selling horse book (after Black Beauty) in America. In 1955 Misty of Chincoteague was made into a movie on the island staring David Ladd.
