Abacrombie Inn
Baltimore, Maryland

The history of the building and the businesses housed within are varied. Biddle Street was named after Major Biddle, who built the property in 1891.

He was a member of a prominent Philadelphia family and a major in the Union Army. In 1978 the subterranean rooms became Society Hill, a restaurant and popular night spot, with a charming interior and piano bar. The space above the restaurant became Society Hill Inn.

On a visit to his friend, Mr. Mole of Bolton Hill, Abacrombie Badger attended a performance at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.  As he left the Hall, Mr. Badger spied a wonderful 1880's town house across the street.  "What a superb location for a bed and breakfast and restaurant," he thought.  And that was the beginning of a new adventure for Mr. Badger.

Mr. Badger enlisted the aid of his trusted friend, Mr. Mole, and set about redecorating the grand old house.  He wanted to provide fine accommodations for music lovers, business people, visitors, and Baltimoreans alike.  When he had finished, his bed and breakfast had 12 delight-filled rooms, designed with the discriminating guest in mind.
