Did you hear the sound of cannon fire? Oh, we didnt mention that the General Lewis is located on the site of an 1862 Civil War Battle. Civil War and Revolutionary history lives around every corner of our historically preserved town.
The dining room is on the first floor of the original 1834 home. The present doorways from the lobby were once windows, while the original front door now serves as the main Inn entrance. The large, hand hewn beams in the dining room and lobby were part of the quarters for slaves. Dinner specialties include fried chicken, mountain trout, country ham, grilled pork chops and steak accompanied by hot homemade breads and desserts. Reservations are suggested for dinner and holidays. We serve all legal beverages and accept American Express, Visa and MasterCard. There is no smoking throughout the Inn.
Dining at the General Lewis features the finest menu in the area. We highly recommend the West Virginia Rainbow Trout choose a wonderful wine from our selective wine list or any beverage you happen to desire. Were fully stocked for your arrival.

State parks and national forests offer walks through ferns, flowers, rhododendron and mountain laurel. Area golf courses skirt both mountains and streams. For the history buffs, Lewisburg offers sites associated with both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Gracious homes, spanning the years with their varied architecture in soft red brick or frame, many with large porches reminiscent of a more leisurely life, can be seen by walking along the tree-lined streets.
